Yes. But you dont save Fuel with FWD enabled.(Fuse installed)
Its made for Testing purposes.

it basicly is a fwd and the rear only kicks in wen the front wheels start spinning then a hydraulic clutch engages the rear prop shaft
so most of the time you are on fwd

I diddn't got that Question in Detail, i'm afraid.

The 4EAT exists in two diff. Versions: With VDC and Without.

The Version Without VDC uses a wet Clutch (Running in Oil) to engage the rear Wheels.
This means, that the rear axle can get up to 100% of the Torque.

At low speeds and high power demand the rear Axle usually gets engaged, up to a given Amount. (Varies over the Models, and depends on ext. Influences)
At Highway speeds, it's a 100% fwd.

The VTD-eqipped 4eat has a diff. gear, which allwasy distributes torque to the rear, like the 5MT does.
Different vorm the 5MT it's an electronic controlled Cluth in parrallel.

In Terms of Handling on Concrete and Tar, is think of the VTD and the 5MT to be superior, on mud and Gravel the 4EAT will give better traction.

frontweelcutoff is not possible, no way! The frontwheels are mechanically permanent connected to the AT via differential-drives in both versions. There is no electrical control. The VDC-System works only with the brakes, the differentials and with the rear-wheel-clutch-control. Try google, there are so much infos to find in english about all the Subaru AWD-Systems...
