ECUTEK for STI 2003 anyone?

Hi !

Does anybody have any experience in the ECUTEK upgrade done by Koch Fahrzeugtechnik?
Also has anybody done the ECUTEK without any other modifications?

Talked to ECUTEK in England and they said that you get a decent performance gain even without changing the exhaust !

I live in München so I need to be sure that the ECUTEK really is worth the long drive:-)

I understand you can get it done in Switzerland as well, which would be closer (I guess). Again, from the little German I understand, it seems that the guy with the login name "cirpower" is an ECUTEK dealer. Maybe check out his profile?

Thanks guys!

loscooby, we do the ECUTEK mapping for the STI03. But from what we've learnt with these cars driving them on track I have to say, that we ONLY map these cars when they have got a free flowing exhaust system fitted (detonation, temperatures). I stongly suggest, you fit our exhaust system.

The complete stage costs 3000SFr. and consists of the following:
- remove the catalyst in the standard downpipe
- fit a 100-cell racing catalyst in the mid-section
- ECUTEK remapped ECU

Thanks
cirpower

PS There must be an ECUTEK mapper that is closer to you than us?
PS2 Claudius - yesterday I broke my 2nd drive shaft....what is going on with these EVO-driveshafts??!!! - just a few dognuts...and then.....bumm.....

Thanks for the input guys!

I will talk to Koch fahrzeug-technik again to see if they can help me out as they are a bit closer.
Otherwise it seems like cirpowers kit will be a good option, I need to get some milage on the car anyway to be able to finally go a bit over the 4000 rpm!

I like the stage-kit of cirpower though:-)
Did I understand you correctly cirpower that your kit actually keeps the std. downpipe(though removing the cat) and also keeps the back-box and replaces the center orig cat + the ECUTEK remap?
also if I choose to go for cirpower, how much time would the fitting of the kit and tuning take?

Sorry to hear that, Rich! Did you check the diff and the hub? What exactly went on the driveshaft? It happened to MAXI once, as I told you a few months ago, but the car is kind of old (5 year old Evo 5) and has 60,000 km. I suppose there's something in your car not adjusted correctly. How does the driveshaft look?

loscooby

I understood that the way you did as well. Sounds like you only get a high flow cat. These things are mandatory in Germany and Switzerland. Here in France (go on, flame me ) we just junk them As for the muffler, I'd recommend the Blitz NUR spec (all SS with removable noise-reduction cartridge for the tip, one screw, easy to install and remove) because it is light, durable, has a big internal diameter and a nice deep throaty sound.
If you want a downpipe, the Cusco unit is awesome but extremely expensive.

Take care all

loscooby,

Yes, we open up the standard downpipe and remove the catalyst. In the mid-section we cut out the standard catalyst and fit a 100cell racing catalyst that gives better flow figures and less backpressure which results in more power and faster spool up of the turbocharger. Of course you can also bring a pipe with you that replaces the standard catalyst and we fit the racing catalyst into that. So you can keep your standard mid-section. I recommend you to fit an aftermarket backbox (Supersprint, Scoobysport, Magnex, etc.). Afterwards the ECU is remapped with the ECUTEK software. The software can do lots of things and you don't need an 02-fix or anything. The car should make around 310PS and 400Nm with this stage at almost standard boost.

Claudius,

yes, the diff and hub is ok. It's the outside knuckle that goes. After not hitting the brake point for a corner I had to go through the grass and I think that damaged the knuckle.

Did you see the pictures of the streetcar-cup at Dijon on our homepage? It was a lot of fun! Would be great to meet on a track once m8! I have the Movit kit fitted now and also a KW suspension and am very happy with it. I still think the Öhlins is better as we have it on our championship car and it is awesome. But the KW price is VERY competitive.
