Haltech ECU installed last week

Week ago I purchased and mapped Haltech ECU version E6k.
I think it was good choice. ECU support datalogging, ALS, programmable outputs etc. Power and torque raised about 20%. I have Sti version 3 with PE manifold, exhaust and blitz intake. Before ECU instalation there was no low rev. power.

Are there any Haltech users?

When you want safe tuning there is no other choice than programable ECU (motec, GEMS, HAltech, Autronic etc.)

Es würde mich auch mal interessieren, ob es einen Impreza in unseren Reihen gibt, der eine andere ECU und wer die programmiert hat.

Hi.

My configuration:
- Haltech E6K
- external trim (for boost presure - (can be mapped for ignition, fuel etc.)
- external MAP senzor (3bar)
- throttle position senzor, and coolant and air temperature senzor came with
kit

It cost me about 2100 Euro (incl. instalation, and mapping)

on the www.haltech.com you will find more informations. (also demo software)

All the work was done in Bratislava (Slovak rep.) in company (rally team,
tuning) MAX motorsport together me and my friend.
Mappers came from Hungary.

I have this settings:
outputs - shiflight (check engine flahing on dials), turbo wastegate
control, ALS control, O2 loop (applied before 30% throttle)

Now Im making several datalogs for fine setup and remaping.

HALTECH IS MY BEST TUNING IMPROVEMENT.

Tuning maps are depended on engine internals. With forged pistons and strenghtened rods, modyfied turbo and uprated gearbox :-) you can map it for 1,6 bars. 400 bhp is nothing impossible.

Now Im runing my STi 3 around 340 bhp.

Demo drive is possible but I live in Czechoslovakia. (my Sti was converted from right hand drive japanese imports)

Hello Mpowerman,

1.6bar in 3000-5500 rpm range with VF30/VF34 Turbo (biger than STI VF35) and over 6000 rpm 1.25 bar constant, is with the original ECU and factory mapping no problem. highspeed Vmax EGT 840-860 degrees (never over 890 degrees).
EcuTek say original ECU mapping ist until 1.4bar.

1.08-1.02bar overall is for Germany constant high speed (incl. 35 degrees Air temp.) optimally. Vmax Limiter is even uphill active
highspeed Vmax EGT 810-840 degrees (never over 890 degrees)

And all this with lighter/stronger and larger play of piston
Colder Sparkplug, FCD, Blitz-Boostcontroller, Gasoline pressure control valve and Walbro pump.

With Haltech you have a power mapping +30PS (~400 HP), with original ECU ~370 HP better exhaust gas values.

I have STi 3 with VF23. Up to MY98 is no Ecutek available.

I dont like preprogramed chips.
First I tried maps from other Sti3 and generaly i cannot use it on my car.

Making maps for each car on roller road is (for me) only possible way. Dont believe in universal map.

If you will buy in future uprated intercooler, exhaust manifold etc., it is very easy to remap haltech (motec, autronic etc.)

And next:

1) MAF (mass air flow) input is problem with serial electronic.
Haltech use MAP (manifold pressure and throttle position, coolant and air temperature). I think it is more accurate than MAF.
It is very hard to modify standart MAF and 02 loop.
The key to get power is retard advance to maximal value. Result= maximal power and torque to pressure. Second step is raise boost level. Higher boost generates motre heat and it generate timing retard and more fuel = less power than well mapped ECU in the same boost.

It is problem to do it with standard ECU
2) I saw several Subaru Turbos with FCD, higher pressure with blown/broken pistons or engine block (after conrods crash). Piggyback electronic (FDC etc.)modyfied signal from senzors and says the engine - you run on forexample on 1,0 bar but the real pressure is 1,3. It means lean mixture and too heat in engine.
